Review of Traffic Signal Design and Implementation in London
This project reviewed the current TfL arrangements for the design, implementation and modification of traffic signals in London and made recommendations for improvements. The review included isolated, linked and UTC sites and bus priority design/implementation.
Cambridge Guided Bus
Traffic signal designer for Arup on traffic control matters including bus priority (RTPI) at 14 traffic signals running under isolated VA, MOVA or SCOOT control with Puffin pedestrian facilities.
UTMC coordinator and liaison for the City of York demonstrator for the DfT/DTi/EPSRC research project FREEFLOW.
City of York Traffic Congestion Management System (UTMC29D demonstration project)
Project Manager for the design and implementation of this major UTMC demonstration project. This system will be the first citywide application of an integrated transport management system based on UTMC requirements and using IP communications.
CCTV, VMS and Monitoring Systems for the Tay Road Bridge
Project Director responsible for provision of additional CCTV, VMS and Cathodic Protection monitoring systems at the Tay Road Bridge. This included design, preparation of tender documentation, contract award and supervision, commissioning of each system together with integration of control.
Feasibility Study for the Forth Estuary Driver Information and Control Strategy (FEDICS)
Responsible for technical inputs into the financial appraisal of a network wide monitoring, control and signing system around the Forth Estuary. Assessment of all types of variable message signs and communications options together with the formulation of a communications strategy.
Type Approval Consultancy
Project Director responsible for the provision of consultancy services for the Highways Agency including drafting of a European Controller Specification and formulating system approval requirements and procedures.
Development of a Puffin Good Practice Guide
On behalf of The DfT and The CSS, developing a national good practice guide for the design, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of mid-block Puffins and Puffins at junction traffic signals.
