Introduction to IRC

The Ian Routledge Consultancy (IRC) was founded in 1996 and since that time has been providing specialist traffic control services to central and local government as well other consultants in the UK and overseas. IRC focuses on providing traffic control solutions including design, specification, installation, acceptance testing, operation and maintenance of traffic signals and UTC, UTMC and RTI systems. In addition, IRC offers significant experience of bus priority facilities, traveller and driver information systems, tolling systems and car park signing systems.

Through projects such as FREEFLOW IRC is supporting the development of the next generation of intelligent transport solutions building on the facilities available in UTMC systems which IRC played a significant role in developing and trialling.

Since Peter Routledge joined IRC in 2007 his web and IT skills have been utilised to develop innovative web based solutions for storing and sharing traffic control information. A map based interface allows immediate access to all types of information enabling network managers and signal engineers to focus on using information not trying to find it.
